Added:2019-07-03     Views:

With the increasing social pressure today, many people have sleep disorders. The manifestations of sleep disorders are various, including difficulty in falling asleep, decreased sleep, excessive sleep and changes in sleep patterns, among which difficulty in falling asleep and decreased sleep are the most common, which is commonly referred to as insomnia.

Insomnia is caused by a breakdown in the balance between the activation and inhibition of cortical cells, or by disruption of sleep habits (rhythms). Insomnia generally manifests itself as a decrease in the total amount of sleep or the quality of sleep.

Insomnia comes in roughly four forms

1. Difficulty sleeping. After going to bed, my mind becomes more and more clear, and the past events are presented in my mind like a movie. This is often seen in emotional tension and anxiety, or when I don't think about anything after going to bed, I just can't sleep with my eyes closed, which is mostly habitual insomnia.

2. Wake up. Easy to fall asleep after going to bed, but wake up early, more common in the elderly or depressed people.

3. Sleep light. Easy wake up after falling asleep, wake up for many times in the night, consciously like to sleep, sleep, wake up after not solution, see more in the body uncomfortable person.

4. Disrupted sleep rhythms, seen in jet lag. Night shifter.

The reason of insomnia has physiology and heart two kinds, with latter in the majority. Neurasthenia, anxiety, high blood pressure, diabetes, pain and so on can send insomnia. So insomnia is associated with a variety of psychosomatic diseases.

Long-term lack of sleep can make the cortex of the excitation-inhibition function disorder, make people groggy, memory, thinking, attention decline or dull. It can also cause emotional disorders such as anxiety and upset. The most important thing is that there will be a disorder of the immune system, the body's resistance to decline, greatly increase the risk of disease.

Relationship between mental illness and sleep disorders

1. Mental symptoms can magnify or aggravate sleep disorders;

2. The pathological process of mental disorders destroys sleep quality;

3. Insomnia is a high risk factor for mental disorders (especially depression, which often occurs within 1 year);

4. Mental disorders can cause insomnia, excessive sleep and changes in sleep quality;

5.1 1/3 to 1/2 of chronic insomnia patients have psychiatric problems.

Manifestations of sleep disorders in psychopaths

1. Schizophrenic patients can have sleep disorders in both the onset and remission stages, usually manifested as difficulty in falling asleep, light sleep and multiple dreams, or intermittent sleep, generally characterized by difficulty in falling asleep. Patients with late schizophrenia sleep increased, sleep efficiency also increased. After schizophrenia is treated, sleep latency can be prolonged. Patients with long-term medication, weight gain, prone to apnea.

2. Patients with major depressive disorder are often accompanied by sleep disorder, the most common is insomnia, a few patients sleep excessively or the total sleep time is prolonged; The sleep latency of young depression patients is mostly prolonged, and the sleep of elderly patients is more normal, but the number of dream-related awakenings increases, disturbing the sleep continuity and reducing sleep efficiency.

3. Patients with manic episodes may also have sleep disorders due to long-term emotional highs and irritability, resulting in reduced actual sleep time and sleep needs.

4. For patients with anxiety and depression, it is often manifested as decreased sleep efficiency, increased sleep latency, decreased total sleep time, increased number of nocturnal awakenings, and repetitive anxious dreams.

In conclusion, the course of sleep disorders is closely related to the course of mental disorders, and often sleep disorders are improved when mental symptoms are relieved.

How to overcome sleep disorder

1. To face this reality calmly with an optimistic attitude, which is important for stabilizing emotions, overcoming and eliminating the negative factors that cause insomnia.

2. Eliminate pathogenic factors. Correct understanding of the reality of insomnia, do a full mental preparation, can put down the burden, make sleep better.

3. Develop good habits and improve sleep. Maintain a normal and stable routine and establish an orderly work and rest system. Go to bed feeling happy and calm. Do not drink strong tea coffee and so on, these stimulant things can make cerebral cortex excited hinder smooth sleep. Dinner wants time and quantitative, too full or hunger can cause cerebral cortex center to be excited, make the person cannot sleep thereby.

4. Sleep environment is very important. Keep quiet, the temperature is suitable and the environment is comfortable.

5. Take proper medications under your doctor's supervision, but don't place all your hopes on medications. It is important to note that many medications for mental illness can also cause sleep disturbances.
